WEAVING FUTURES IN ECUADOR

Florinda Ganán hand spins the wool that she uses to weave sashes using traditional designs from the indigenous communities of Ecuador’s High Andes. With support from the MDG-F, women artisans created a credit union and improved the production and marketing of their products. By contributing to and managing their household income, the women were able to establish a more prominent role in their communitiesand gain new respect for their independence and right to organize.
