Child and maternal mortality rates in Afghanistan are among the world’s highest: 25% of children die before reaching their fifth birthday and more than half of all children are stunted. The MDG-F worked in five underserved provinces to reduce malnutrition, and to support vulnerable women and girls by teaching food processing techniques that will increase their food security and generate additional income.
