South Serbia has the country’s only concentration of ethnic Albanians, and is also the poorest part of Serbia. Inequalities, actual and perceived, among ethnic communities and between the south and the rest of Serbia continue to produce tensions and conflict. The MDG-F targeted the area with initiatives to strengthen dialogue and social cohesion, including a celebration to mark the International Day of Peace which was attended by youth from all ethnic backgrounds.
