BUILDING PEACE IN SERBIA, ONE JAM JAR AT A TIME

27 women from Crna Trava, in Southeastern Serbia, formed the Vlasina Lake Housewives — an MDG-F-backed jam producing cooperative — to boost incomes in one of the country’s least developed regions. By supporting entrepreneurs like these, the MDG-F worked to close the income gap between ethnic groups in the south and between South Serbia and the rest of the country, and thus lower the risk of re-igniting conflict.
